As part of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, Azorean Bellflower (Azorina vidalii<\/em>) was planted on Morro de Castelo Branco, on the island of Faial, as part of Action C3.2 \u2013 Implementation of pilot works for the conservation of endemic flora (in-situ<\/em> conservation).<\/p>\n

Azorina vidalii<\/em> is a species endemic to the Azores and one of the project\u2019s target species, currently in an unfavourable conservation status. This intervention aims to reinforce its natural populations and contribute to its long-term safeguarding.<\/p>\n

The specimens now planted were produced at the Faial Botanic Garden, and the planting was carried out by the Faial Environment and Climate Action Service team.<\/p>\n

Individual protectors were placed, which are essential for minimising the impact of herbivory and increasing the survival rate of the plants.<\/p>\n

This action also continues the work of the LIFE VIDALIA project, which has since been completed, ensuring the implementation of the measures provided for in its After-LIFE Plan.<\/p>\n
