The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, has recorded very positive results in one of the experimental planting areas for the Azorean Lotus (Lotus azoricus<\/em>) on the island of Pico, with the identification of around 50 new individuals, demonstrating the success of the measures taken to boost the population of this endemic species.<\/p>\n\n

This initiative builds on the work begun by the LIFE VIDALIA project, with LIFE IP AZORES NATURA now responsible for the post-LIFE phase, focusing on the maintenance of the areas where work has been carried out and the consolidation of the established populations.<\/p>\n\n

The Azorean Lotus, a species protected under the Habitats Directive and considered a conservation priority, highlights the importance of these field actions, which are fundamental to preserving the Azores\u2019 biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n

The work is being carried out by teams from the Pico Environment and Climate Action Service, whose commitment and dedication have been crucial to the success of this initiative.<\/p>\n\n
