The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project team travelled to Corvo Island to prepare the implementation of action Pilot project for prevention, early warning and rapid response to Invasive Alien Species*. This action is being developed not only on Corvo Island, but also in La Palma, Canary Islands.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During this week\u00a0on\u00a0Corvo\u00a0Island, the team met with several entities\u00a0whose support will be crucial\u00a0for the success of the intervention, namely the\u00a0elementary\u00a0and secondary school\u00a0Mouzinho\u00a0da Silveira,\u00a0the post office\u00a0CTT\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Correios\u00a0de Portugal S.A.,\u00a0Azores Airlines, the Agrarian Development Service, the Manager of the\u00a0public pasture lands\u00a0of\u00a0Corvo\u00a0and the City Council\u00a0of Vila do\u00a0Corvo. Additionally, several events were organized to involve the public, including a walk to raise awareness among the island’s inhabitants regarding the issue of invasive\u00a0species\u00a0and identify the invasive flora in the vicinity of the village, and a public session to provide information on the planned interventions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
