Currently, nest on the Archipelago the Common Tern (\ud835\ude1a\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude22 \ud835\ude29\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude25\ud835\ude30), the Roseate Tern (\ud835\ude1a\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude22 \ud835\ude25\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude28\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2a) and the Sooty Tern (\ud835\ude16\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude3a\ud835\ude24\ud835\ude29\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude31\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude2f \ud835\ude27\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude34\ud835\ude24\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude34).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">These birds occur in the Region since 1561, as Gaspar Frutuoso mentioned in his book As Saudades da Terra, of the same year, its presence on Faial, Pico, Terceira and Santa Maria. Regarding each subspecies, the Common Tern was registered in 1860 as a species that occurs in the Azores and, currently, nests on all the islands. The first reference to the Roseate Tern was in 1865, with the recording of six birds in flight on Faial. In 1960, a couple of ornithologists mentioned that the Region is one of the main nesting sites of the North-East Atlantic. Lastly, the nesting of the Sooty Tern is surprising, given that the nearest nesting site is S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe. Its presence has been known since 1903, and in recent years the birds (1 &#8211; 2 couples) have chosen the Ilh\u00e9u da Praia (islet) to nest.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The terns arrive at the beginning of April and leave at the end of summer. The Roseate Terns traditionally migrate to the coast of Africa (from Ghana to the Ivory Coast) and the Common Terns to the coasts of Brazil and Argentina.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA promotes the conservation of these and other seabird species present on the Birds Directive through the conservation action C6 \u2013 Implementation of integrated conservation works for Seabirds \u2013, for example, through the installation of bird callers and shelters for terns on the Region\u2019s islets.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">With the financial support of the LIFE Programme of the European Union.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">RN 2000<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":6501,"template":"","class_list":["post-6505","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
