Here occur endemic flora species of the region and significant colonies of sea birds nest, such as the Barolo Shearwater (\ud835\ude17\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude27\ud835\ude27\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude34 \ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude29\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2e\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2a \ud835\ude23\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2a), the Cory&#8217;s Shearwater (\ud835\ude0a\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude24\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude34 \ud835\ude23\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude34), the Roseate Tern (\ud835\ude1a\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude22 \ud835\ude25\ud835\ude30\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude28\ud835\ude22\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2d\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude2a) and the Common Tern (\ud835\ude1a\ud835\ude35\ud835\ude26\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude22 \ud835\ude29\ud835\ude2a\ud835\ude33\ud835\ude36\ud835\ude2f\ud835\ude25\ud835\ude30).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In order to increase the reproduction and survival rate of the seabird species that choose this place to nest, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, in collaboration with its partners Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA) and the Regional Directorate for Maritime Policies (DRPM), developed several conservation actions on this islet.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Thus, through the verification of the abundance, reproductive success and survival rate of the birds present on the islet in 103 artificial nests and 140 natural nests, the success of the artificial nests installed was registered.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Also worth mentioning is the installation of a sound system to attract seabirds and potentiate the occupation of fabricated nests, as well as the maintenance of cameras with a movement sensor, which allows the assessment of predation events.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">These conservation actions are integrated in the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project through the Action C6 &#8220;Implementation of integrated conservation works for Seabirds&#8221;.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":6688,"template":"","class_list":["post-6692","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Conservation works on Ilh\u00e9u da Vila, Santa Maria - LIFE IP Azores Natura<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"The Ilh\u00e9u da Vila (islet9 is one of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project&#039;s intervention areas.
