The plantations in the Caldeira Branca area on the island of Flores are currently being monitored, and the initial results are very positive.
The plants installed in this area, under the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, are developing well, showing signs of adaptation and healthy growth in the restored habitat.
Field observations have estimated a survival rate of between 60% and 70%, reinforcing the effectiveness of the ecological restoration actions implemented in this area. These results demonstrate the contribution of the plantations to the ecological recovery of Caldeira Branca and to the strengthening of populations of species protected under the Habitats Directive.
