Within the scope of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, work was recently carried out on the Praia and Baixo islets, on Graciosa island, within the framework of actions C6.1 – Restoration of habitats on islets for seabirds and D5.1 – Monitoring of terrestrial habitats and species.

On the Praia islet, the actions of surveying and monitoring the vegetation stood out, which are fundamental for assessing the conservation status of the habitats. New artificial nests for Barolo Shearwater (Puffinus baroli) were also transported and installed, contributing to the improvement of nesting conditions for seabirds.

On the Baixo islet, technical interventions were carried out, including the replacement of the Autonomous Recording Unit (ARU) and the photometer, essential equipment to ensure the continuous monitoring of seabirds and associated environmental variables.

The work was conducted by the team from the Graciosa Environment and Climate Action Service.
