The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, recently took part in meetings of the Advisory Boards for the Graciosa and Terceira Island Nature Parks. These bodies also act as the project’s Stakeholder Boards, strengthening the involvement of local authorities in implementing conservation measures.

At the meeting of the Terceira Island Nature Park Advisory Board, a progress report was presented on the conservation actions carried out on the island, with particular emphasis on habitat restoration, the removal and control of invasive species, and networking initiatives, which are fundamental to the preservation of biodiversity.

At the meeting of the Graciosa Nature Park Advisory Board, discussions centred on seed collection, the planting of endemic species and new seedlings in the Agrarian Development greenhouse, which have contributed significantly to the propagation of these species and the restoration of habitats on the island. Progress on measures to control invasive species and on the monitoring and conservation of seabirds on the islets was also presented.

At the end of both meetings, a discussion session was held with all the organisations present, providing an opportunity to discuss the strategies implemented as part of the project and to encourage the active involvement of stakeholders in finding solutions.
