The SBEP – Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership is launching its 3rd Joint Transnational Call for the funding of transnational research and innovation projects.
The call aims to support the transition towards a regenerative, resilient, and sustainable blue economy, with impact on at least two EU sea basins.
The general theme of the 2025 JTC is “Digitalisation and Innovation for Resilient Marine Ecosystems, Businesses, and Communities to Strengthen the EU Blue Economy’s Competitiveness”.
Research and innovation proposals submitted under this call must address at least one of the following topics:
- Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTOs) at sub-basin scale
- Transitioning the blue economy sectors and developing coexistence and marine multi-use infrastructures
- Climate-smart planning and management of sea uses at regional level
- Blue bioresources: sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and new bio-based products
- Resilient coastal communities and businesses
Projects must contribute to the transformation of the blue economy towards carbon neutrality, promoting a more resilient and sustainable future.
Proposals should consider a minimum of two EU sea basins (Atlantic Ocean, Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and North Sea) and assess their impact and potential for replication or scalability across various basins.
Projects may also target regional European seas (e.g. Adriatic, Aegean, Arctic, Barents, Celtic), provided that at least two different EU sea basins are covered.
