Since 2010, the European Commission has been organizing the Accessible City Award, in collaboration with the European Disability Forum, to reward EU cities that prioritize accessibility for people with disabilities.
Accessibility is a master key that opens the doors to city services, buildings, and public spaces, allowing people with disabilities to take charge of their lives, live independently, and fully participate in the community.
The application period for the 2026 Accessible City Award is now open!
Applications are accepted until September 9, 2025, at 23:59 CEST (GMT+2). Submissions must be made electronically via the online application platform: https://access-city-award.ec.europa.eu/node/add/application (not available in Portuguese).
Winners will be announced on December 4–5, 2025, during the award ceremony at the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference, organized by the European Commission in cooperation with the European Disability Forum.
