The European Ocean Coalition (EU4Ocean) has announced the opening of applications for the latest edition of the “MakeEUBlue” awards, aimed at supporting ocean literacy projects developed in Europe. The 2025 edition of the competition is dedicated to recognizing ocean literacy projects led by individuals or organizations that are either ongoing or were completed in Europe in 2024.
The “MakeEUBlue” competition grants three main awards: Navy Blue (€2,500), Classic Blue (€2,000), and Sky Blue (€1,500), acknowledging initiatives aligned with the principles of the EU4Ocean coalition. Additionally, a “Special Mention” award of €2,000 will be given to projects focusing on the 2024 Challenge of the Year, which links ocean literacy to citizenship and democracy to promote a sustainable ocean.
Applications are open until March 14. The “MakeEUBlue” awards ceremony will take place on May 23 as part of the European Maritime Day celebrations in Cork, Ireland.
