The European Commission has launched new calls for project proposals worth €204 million to accelerate digital transformation across the European Union. The funding, under the Digital Europe Programme, aims to promote the adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and secure digital solutions, making them available to businesses, public administrations, the automotive sector, and healthcare services.
Among the highlighted initiatives is the allocation of €15 million to develop the European Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences, alongside significant investments in genomic data (€22.5 million), AI in medical imaging (€14.4 million), and Digital Innovation Hubs (€87 million), which will support companies in modernizing processes and strengthening the digital skills of their workforce.
This initiative follows the update of the DIGITAL Work Programme 2025–2027, ensuring that EU investments keep pace with technological developments and reinforce Europe’s digital autonomy.
