Description:
The ITOPF Research and Development (R&D) Award supports innovative, high-quality research projects aimed at improving preparedness and response to marine pollution incidents. The Award is intended to deliver tangible benefits to the global spill response community and contribute to scientific advancement in this field.
Eligible project types:
• Short-term projects (1 to 2 years)
• PhD research projects
Main selection criteria:
• Scientific and technical excellence of the proposal
• Relevance to oil and chemical spill response at sea
• Potential for practical application and positive environmental impact
• Capability of the research team to successfully deliver the project
Applications:
Applications must be submitted through the online form available on the ITOPF website. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the guidance notes before applying. There is no limit to the number of submissions an applicant can make.

Financial support:
• Up to £60,000 for short-term projects
• Up to £40,000 for PhD projects, plus student stipend and university tuition fees
