The Mário Ruivo Prize — Ocean Generations is an annual initiative that awards films of up to seven minutes in duration, in Portuguese or with Portuguese subtitles, addressing the importance of the ocean for life on the planet. This competition aims to encourage the creativity of young people and promote awareness about the protection and sustainability of the oceans. The goal of the Prize is to stimulate the creation of content that raises awareness in society about the protection of the oceans and the environment. Furthermore, the Prize pays tribute to the legacy of Professor Mário Ruivo, a recognized advocate for the ocean and environmental issues in Portugal. Winning entries receive 2,000 euros per category, which may be shared in the event of a tie.
Beneficiary entities: Young people aged between 14 and 21, residing in Portugal or legally authorized to stay in the country, as well as young people with Portuguese nationality residing abroad. They can participate individually or in teams of up to five members, being evaluated in four categories: Message, Creativity, Scientific Culture, and Future.
