04/03/2025 his Wednesday, the European Commission launched the 2026 edition of its competitions for the “European Capital of Smart Tourism” and “European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism.” Through this initiative, tourist destinations across Europe are invited to showcase their innovative smart and sustainable tourism practices to establish themselves as leaders in the sector.
By awarding the Smart Tourism prizes, the European Commission aims to recognize cities that implement new digital tools and practices while also supporting creative industries and local talent, thus promoting the future of smart and sustainable tourism in Europe.
European cities are invited to submit their applications online by May 30, at 17:00 (Brussels time).
