The European Commission has opened the application period for several prizes celebrating innovation and creativity inspired by the New European Bauhaus (NEB). In this sixth edition of the New European Bauhaus Prizes and the second edition of the New European Bauhaus Boost for Small Municipalities, the Commission once again invites the submission of beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive projects from across Europe and beyond, with the potential to improve citizens’ lives and strengthen innovation and participation.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated: “The New European Bauhaus is no longer just an idea; it is a dynamic movement. The projects developed across Europe show us what our future can look like: sustainable, inclusive and beautiful. The time has come to scale up, embedding the New European Bauhaus in our competitiveness agenda to boost innovation and creative thinking. In this context, the New European Bauhaus Prizes are an essential element.”

In the 2025 edition, 22 innovative projects and concepts were awarded the New European Bauhaus Prizes, and 20 community-based initiatives received the New European Bauhaus Boost for Small Municipalities. In the 2026 edition, the Commission once again calls for the submission of projects that promote sustainability, inclusiveness, and quality of life.

The deadline for submitting applications is 17 March 2026 at 18:00 (Portugal mainland time), and applications must be submitted through the New European Bauhaus Prizes platform (https://prizes.new-european-bauhaus.europa.eu/). The platform provides applicant guides (https://prizes.new-european-bauhaus.europa.eu/choose-guide) with detailed information on the application process.

The finalists of the 2026 New European Bauhaus Prizes will be announced during the third edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival (https://new-european-bauhaus.europa.eu/events/festival_en?prefLang=pt), which will take place from 9 to 13 June 2026, and the winners will be revealed at the New European Bauhaus Prizes ceremony in autumn 2026.
