Between 4 and 6 November, the 7th monitoring visit to the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project took place on the islands of São Miguel and Graciosa.

The initiative brought together the project beneficiaries, including the coordinating beneficiary, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, and the associated beneficiaries, the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Action, the Regional Directorate for Maritime Policy, the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds and the Fundación Canaria for the La Palma Biosphere Reserve, as well as two auditors from the company ELMEN.

Over three days, participants presented the main results achieved to date, discussed technical and administrative aspects, and conducted field visits on both islands. On São Miguel, the teams visited Lagoa do Fogo and Pico da Vara, priority areas for the conservation of habitats and protected species. On Graciosa, they observed ongoing work to restore seabird habitats on the islets, as well as actions to reinforce the population and control invasive alien species, with a view to restoring protected and priority flora.

The visits enabled an in loco assessment of the progress of the actions and strengthened cooperation among the various project partners.
