As part of action C3.2 – In-situ conservation, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project team recently visited the island of Flores to monitor ecological restoration work at Caldeira Branca.
During the visit, a practical training session was held for field workers from the Flores Environment and Climate Action Service, centred on choosing the best locations for planting the target species produced at the Faial Botanic Garden.
In addition, a guide to planting endemic species was also distributed, with fundamental guidelines to guarantee the success of the plantations.
In the field, 636 native herbaceous plants were planted, including:
- 21 Festuca francoi
- 52 Leontodon hochstetteri
- 60 Scabiosa nitens
- 503 Ammi trifoliatum
