As part of Action E3 – Networking, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, held a meeting with the recently approved LIFE IP AGRILOOP.
This new project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, is innovative and aligns with the Azores Circular Economy Roadmap, aiming to reduce the environmental impacts associated with waste from the agricultural and forestry sectors. The project will be implemented across all the islands of the Azores and involves the collaboration of several entities, namely: Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, IROA, IAMA, Kairós Association – Cooperative Incubation Initiatives Solidarity Economy, Serralharia do Outeiro, BioAçores, Regional Directorate for Agriculture, Veterinary and Food, and the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources and Spatial Planning.
During the meeting, several strategic topics were discussed, such as:
- The training actions planned in AGRILOOP, including around 40 training actions in the first phase;
- Relevant aspects of the PEPAC – Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy, with an emphasis on measures that contribute to conservation;
- The importance of integrating agriculture and project actions into ecosystem conservation, promoting sustainable practices and ecosystem services.
This meeting strengthens cooperation between LIFE projects from different sectors in the Region, promoting the sharing and exchange of good practices, with a view to ensuring the success of each project and increasing the effectiveness of their actions.
