The work to conserve native species continues to progress! This time, the action took place at Fajã dos Cubres, on the island of São Jorge, where 928 individuals of native species were planted, produced by the Faial Botanic Garden under action C3.2 – In-situ conservation of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project.

The species reinforced were:

Myosotis maritima – 87 plants

Crithmum maritimum – 233 plants

Scabiosa nitens – 68 plants

Lotus azoricus – 138 plants

Euphorbia azorica – 6 plants

Rumex azoricus – 396 plants

Before planting, the land was prepared by a team from the Environment and Climate Action Service on the island of São Jorge, ensuring ideal conditions for the intervention’s success.

The team will now monitor all the newly introduced plants to track their evolution in the field.
