As part of action C6.1 – Restoration of habitats on islets for seabirds, integrated in the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, seabird monitoring work recently took place on Ilhéu da Praia, on Graciosa island.
During this action, carried out by the team from the Graciosa Environment and Climate Action Service, the banding of six Barolo Shearwater (Puffinus baroli) broods and the registration of thirteen Monteiro’s Storm-petrels (Hydrobates monteiroi) stood out, and the acoustic monitoring system was also maintained.
These actions are fundamental to reinforcing understanding of the status of nesting populations and supporting the conservation of seabirds in the Azores. With the financial support of the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
