The LIFE BEETLES and LIFE IP AZORES NATURA projects, both coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, were present at another meeting of the Advisory Board of the Flores Island Nature Park – an important opportunity to share with the board members the progress achieved and the actions underway for nature conservation on the island of Flores.
During the meeting, the ecological restoration work and reinforcement of native species populations, which have been implemented throughout the year, were highlighted. Since the beginning of 2025, the Azores Seed Bank and Nursery of Rare Plants have sent a total of 7,065 endemic plants to the island of Flores as part of the conservation efforts developed by both projects.
The species sent for population reinforcement and habitat restoration were:
- Ammi trifoliatum
- Festuca francoi
- Scabiosa nitens
- Leontodon hochstetteri
