The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, welcomed 17 young scouts from the Clã Pe. Soares, part of Group 1226 from Bajouca, Leiria, to the island of São Jorge, where they took part in a voluntary initiative to clear litter from the coastline at Fajã dos Cubres.

The initiative took place around the project’s worksite and resulted in the collection of around 80 kg of litter, helping preserve this natural area and protect coastal ecosystems.

The activity was part of a volunteer tour of the Azores, during which the group visited three islands in the archipelago to take part in nature conservation initiatives, combining their contribution to protecting the Azores’ natural heritage with a learning and sharing experience.

The young people’s participation highlighted the importance of volunteering and community involvement in nature conservation and in raising awareness of biodiversity protection.

LIFE IP AZORES NATURA would like to thank all participants for their dedication, enthusiasm and spirit of collaboration. With the financial support of the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
