The Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA), an associated beneficiary of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, has been a partner of the Arenaria Project since 2009. This project focuses on monitoring the distribution and abundance of birds and the preservation of coastal ecosystems in Portugal through the participation of volunteers.
This year, the project will focus, essentially, on ensuring the counting of the annual monitoring grids (priority grids), which allow for a more detailed analysis of the population trends of the birds studied, and on raising the general public’s awareness of the conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems.
If you want to participate in this project, you can do so until 31 January, and you should contact the regional organizers of the areas where you want to register. In the case of the Azores, SPEA is the entity responsible for implementing this project.
