As part of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, work was recently carried out to install and restore the fence of the micro-reserve located in Cabeço dos Trinta, on Faial island, where a population of Azorean Dock (Rumex azoricus) is found.
During this intervention, 85 specimens of Rumex azoricus were planted, continuing the population reinforcement already initiated for this species, which is protected under the Habitats Directive and currently has an unfavourable conservation status.
The Faial Botanic Garden produced the plants used in this action, and the work was carried out by the team from the Faial Environment and Climate Action Service.
With the financial support of the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
