Last April, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project participated in the 1st Festival of Portuguese Biosphere Reserves, which took place on Graciosa, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change. This event was part of the “Biosphere Reserves: Sustainable Territories, Resilient Communities” project, where other mirror events were held simultaneously in all Biosphere Reserves at regional and national levels.
During this event, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project participated, through its manager, in the round table with other LIFE projects with actions on Graciosa island, where issues related to conservation actions carried out on this island, difficulties and challenges for the future were addressed.
Taking advantage of the opportunity that this meeting provided, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA exhibition was also on display in the pavilion where the event took place, and there was also room for a small workshop, where the fun card game “Dobble Invasoras” from LIFE IP AZORES NATURA was presented, aimed at students from primary school, which addresses the theme of invasive species in a fun and relaxed way.
On Graciosa, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project carries out conservation work on the Baixo and Praia islets, namely through the conservation of seabird 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘴 and of a population of Azorean Bishopsweed (𝘈𝘮𝘮𝘪 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮) in the Ponta Branca area.
