The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA, a project coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, participated in the Graciosa Nature Park Advisory Board, where a brief presentation was made of the conservation works taking place on that island and those which will start soon.
It should be remembered that, on this island, the project’s intervention areas are the Ihéu de Baixo and the Ilhéu da Praia (islets), where various actions have taken place. The works included installing a rope ladder and a safety line to improve access conditions to the Ilhéu de Baixo and implementing measures to control pressures and threats to the endemic flora. In this context, the project also collected seeds of native species and helped improving the 𝘈𝘮𝘮𝘪 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮 population in Ponta Branca, as well as the installed 200 artificial nests for seabirds and tern bird calls.
It should also be noted that the re-establishment of a population of 𝘈𝘻𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘪 in Ponta da Restinga is advancing.
We emphasize that this meeting falls under Action F4 of the project, which establishes the advisory board in each of the islands to monitor the management and implementation of the project.
