During April, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, through Action C3.2 – Ex-situ conservation, reinforced some endemic plant populations in Ribeira da Lomba, island of Faial. This site is known to have some nuclei of Azorean Bishopsweed (𝘈𝘮𝘮𝘪 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮) and Azorean Angelica (𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴) that, since the beginning of the project, have been monitored and threats controlled through the removal of invasive alien species.
Thus, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the Faial Environment and Climate Change Service and with the aim of strengthening these populations, planted more individuals in these locations where the invasive plants were removed.
The individuals of Azorean Bishopsweed and Azorean Angelica, introduced in this location, were germinated in the Faial Botanic Garden and kept in a nursery to now be planted in their natural 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵.
